Simon Calmar Andersen and my paper “The unnoticed influence of peers on educational preferences” is featured in an article in the Danish newspaper Weekendavisen. The title is “I klikens fodspor” by Anders Boas and it is about the influence that friends of young people about to make an educational choice have on their opinions about different educations.

Our paper shows that peers are at the bottom at the list when young people are asked, what influences their educational choice:

We also show this in a conjoint experiment and a list experiment. However, when we randomly assign some of them to be reminded about their peers’ attitudes towards certain educations, these young people are pulled in their peers’ direction – an indication of an influence after all.
